Don’t Let Them Rob You

January 16, 2022

DON’T LET THEM ROB YOU
Galatians 5:1-12

Pastor Terry Wilcox

There are those who think the doctrine of grace is dangerous. Their concern is that grace replaces law with a license to sin.

Antinomianism – from Greek anti, “against,” and nomos, “law.”

Romans 3:21

Scripture and experience teach that good works do not produce faith or salvation. They are the results of God’s grace. However, a faith in Jesus that does not produce works that glorify God and express love for others simply is not real.

Galatians 5:19-21

Historical information on antinomianism:
  Luther, Arminius, Wesleys, Anne Hutchinson

THREE PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCES

  1. They will lose their liberty.
    Galatians 5:1
    Romans 8:21-22
  2. Moving into poverty
    Galatians 5:2-6
Legalism will rob them of their spiritual wealth
  3. They are being pushed off course
    Galatians 5:7
    Galatians 5:9
Yeast in scripture usually illustrates sin.

Defenition of legalism – dependence on a moral law for salvation rather than personal faith that believes in Jesus, and receives him as Lord and Savior.

Holiness comes from the inside out because it is the product of the Holy Spirit within us.

Yes, Galatians 5:12 means what it says. Paul doesn’t want the Judiazers to reproduce.
