God Wants Us to Have Peace

Philippians 4:4-7    Matthew 6:25-34
Pastor Terry Wilcox

Our Part of the Partnership

  1.  Always rejoice – Philippians 4:4
  2. Pray about everything – Philippians 4:6
  3. Be thankful – Colossians 3:15-17

    Thankfulness implies:

    1. Perspective
    2. Maturity
    3. Submission – Philippians 4:7

Two Kinds of Peace

  1. Peace that transcends all understanding
  2. Peace that controls the way we think and feel
The love of God desires only what is best for us.
The wisdom of God knows only what is best for us.
The power of God allows only what is best for us.

Five Steps to Peace

Matthew 6:25-34

  1. Calm yourself – Matthew 6:25
  2. Value yourself – Matthew 6:26, 28, 30
  3. Accept yourself – Matthew 6:27
  4. Focus yourself – Matthew 6:31,32,34
    1. away from small stuff
    2. on God – Matthew 6:33
    3. on today – Matthew 6:34

      Today is all we have
Today is all we needToday is all we can handle

  5. Dedicate yourself – Matthew 6:33

God’s formula for peace:
Put God first in every area and receive God’s peace in every area.
