A Restoration Missed

John 13:21-30

Pastor Terry Wilcox

Judas is Greek for the Hebrew word Judah, which means praise.  Today it is synonymous with traitor.

Three Thoughts About Judas:

  1. He was not born a traitor.
Not even the devil was a devil from the beginning.
  2. Judas decided to become a disciple
    a. He liked money.
    b. He disagreed with Jesus.
  3. Judas was chosen to be an apostle
    John 6:70-71

Why Did Jesus Choose Judas?

  1. He was not chosen to be a traitor.
    a. Jesus provides everyone the opportunity to succeed
    Philippians 4:13
    b. The same reason as the other apostles – an act of faith.

How Did Judas Become the Most Infamous Traitor?

  1. Disappointment
  2. Disagreement with Jesus’ plans.
  3. Dissatisfaction with his resources

What Killed Him?

  1. Did not go to Jesus.
  2. Went to those who didn’t care.
  3. Despair and guilt.
