What’s A Dad To Do?
Luke 15:11-24

Pastor Terry Wilcox

What we can learn in these challenging times about fathers in the Bible:

Three Responsibilities of a Dad

  1. Provision for the family = physical.
  2. Protection for the family = emotional.
  3. Prayer for the family = spiritual

Older, wiser, experienced parents say:

  1. Love your wife more.
  2. Laugh more with your kids.
  3. Listen more and talk less.
  4. Learn to encourage more.
  5. Look to the small things.
  6. Lead in spiritual matters.

From the prodigal dad:

  1. A God-like dad is approachable. Luke 15:12
  2. A God-like dad gives his children freedom. Luke 15:13
  3. A God-like dad hopes and expects his kids will do the right thing. Luke 15:20
  4. A God-like dad has compassion for his kids. Luke 15:20
  5. God-like dads move forward. Luke 15:22-24

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be God-like dads.
