What We Learn About Angels (Part 2)
August 8, 2021What We Learn About Angels
(Part 2)
Revelation 12:7-12
Pastor Terry Wilcox
Angels remind us that there is another world.
“Everything scripture says about angels is in connection to something else as the main theme. There are no pages or passages whose central purpose is to spell out a doctrine of angels.”
This may be a long series: the Bible has 300 references to angels!
Psalm 73:23-25
WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED:
- Angels are God’s messengers.
- Angels protect God’s people.
- Angels direct worship.
- Angels collect our prayers.
- Angels are worshippers.
- Angels celebrate.
TODAY:
- Angels are mighty warriors. (Revelation 12:7-12)
- Every time an angel appears to a human he has to say: “fear not“.
The wars among nations on earth are merely popgun affairs compared to the fierceness of battle in the spiritual, unseen world. This invisible spiritual conflict is waged around us incessantly and unremittingly. Where the Lord works, Satan’s forces hinder; where angel beings carry out their divine directives, the devils rage. All this comes about because the powers of darkness press their counterattack to recapture the ground held for the glory of God.
Were it not for the angels hosts empowered by God to resist the demons of Satan, who could ever hope to press through the battlements of the fiendish demons of darkness to the Lord of eternal liberty and salvation?
-Dr. Billy Graham, “Angels, God’s Secret Agents”
2 Kings 19:35
- Angels are God’s executors.
As such they don’t make judgments.
2 Facts About God’s Executors:
- Their authority is from God.
Genesis 19:13 - Judge is both punishment and deliverance.
Matthew 13:36-43You don’t live in fear of judgment when we call the judge, “Father.”
John 1:12
