GOD’S TIMING IS AMAZING!
Luke 2:1-7

Pastor Terry Wilcox

Christmas is about God’s timing – He has a plan and it includes you!

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Luke 2:7 refers to the humanity of Jesus.

Galatians 4:4 refers to the divinity of Jesus.

REASONS WHY MARY COULD HAVE THOUGHT – “BAD TIMING”

  1. Her marriage to Joseph was not consummated.
  2. Birth will be in occupied territory.
  3. Census interrupted their plans.
  4. A strange new town without her mom.
  5. Inadequate housing.

    Oftentimes God’s timing seems off.

OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS HAD PREDICTED THE MESSIAH WOULD:

  1. Emerge victorious over Satan. – Galatians 3:15
  2. Come from Abraham and bless the world. – Genesis 12:2-3
  3. Descend from the tribe of Judah. – Genesis 49:10
  4. Descend from King David’s family. – II Samuel 7:16
  5. Be born of a virgin. – Isaiah 7:14
  6. Be born in Bethlehem. – Micah 5:2
  7. Be visited and honored by wise men. – Psalm 72:10, Isaiah 60:3, 6, 9

IN LIGHT OF HISTORY, THE TIMING OF JESUS’ BIRTH IS AMAZING

  1. The diaspora of the Jews.
  2. Favorable legal environment.
  3. Favorable political environment.
  4. Favorable cultural climate.
Greek philosophers were better at asking questions than answering them.

Three great questions of life: guilt, fulfillment, and death. Jesus answered all three

John Maxwell in Your Attitude: Key to Success says:
    · The wrong decision at the wrong time = disaster· The wrong decision at the right time = mistake
    · The right decision at the wrong time = unacceptance· The right decision at the right time = success

    God’s timing is always perfect!

    Abraham Lincoln
    John Calvin
    George Whitfield

As we end 2021 and begin 2022 keep in mind that nothing stays the same. Our decisions today will become non-negotiable tomorrow.

Is it God’s time for you to make an important decision?
