Acts 20:17-25

We are all getting older and many of us are confronted with the health issues of aging.
Paul was on his third mission and was going to Jerusalem
- Paul wanted to go to Jerusalem.
a. The passion of his heart was the message of saved by grace through faith in Jesus.
b. He had companions and money for the people. - Since his conversion, Jerusalem had been hostile to him.
a. On his first trip after conversion they feared him.
b. Second time was to settle the issue of grace.
c. Next he confronted Peter for slipping toward legalism.
d. Yet he loved the Jewish people. - He had been warned by others not to go.
a. Were they to stop him or prepare him?
b. Agabus’ warning caused Paul to clarify his purpose. - Paul had a strong will.
a. Strengths can be a blessing and a hindrance.
b. Without his determination we probably would not know his name. - Why did he stay his course?
a. He counted his message more valuable than his life – Acts 20:22-24
b. We may not be at risk of martyrdom, however.
c. He was living in the light of eternity – Acts20:25
