“The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.” Isaiah 5:7

The people disobeyed, would not turn around and thus the chapter’s subtitle, “Woes and Judgements.”

Review John 15:1-11

Key 1: The branches bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit

Key 2: The branches must abide (remain) in Jesus, the Vine.

John 15:10 & John 15:14

In Matthew 21, Jesus tells Jewish leaders they have lost their connection to the vine by disobedience.

God’s laws are for our (abundant life).

Why Obey?

1. God obeys His own laws. (Galatians 6:7-8)
