Jesus was quoting Psalm 31:5.

Now I lay me…

“Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit.”
Not words of resignation, but of peace.

John Wesley’s Four Avenues of Grace: prevenient, saving, sanctifying, and dying.

I Thessalonians 4:13

The source of this peace is God’s grace, and it comes through a couple of channels:

1. As we trust His promises.
   Isaiah 41:10
   Psalm 46:1-2
   Deuteronomy 31:6
   John 14:1-3
2. A deepening relationship with Jesus.
   Psalm 32:6
   Philippians 4:7

   Illustration – a blind man received a cornea transplant.
   Our sight results from years of programming or memory.

   God’s plan is peace for everyone.
